Title: Antique Art Deco Virgin Mary and Cross 10k gold, synthetic ruby and shell cameo spinner / flip ring
c. 1930
Size: 7
Tech desc: Outstanding and highly collectible spinner ring c. 1930. The spinner panel features a shell carved cameo of the Virgin Mary on one side, and a cross on synthetic ruby on the reverse. The spinner locks securely into place when flipped to Mary, but does not lock when on the cross side (however it does stay in place because it is held in place up against your finger underneath). Wonderful heart-like detailing on the shoulders, and some decorative carving detail surrounding the stone's bezel on both sides.
Signet face dimensions: 14.75mm H x 12mm W
Shank width: 1.75mm (at center back)
Ring weight: 4.04g
Ring depth (max height atop the finger): 6.9mm
Hallmarks: "10k"
Condition: Good antique condition with wear commensurate for age (+100 years old!) Some fissures in the metal, (though still entirely structurally sound), the spinner works easily (although as mentioned previously it only locks into place when flipped to Mary, may have even been the way it was designed originally), and lots of wonderful patina which can be polished up if desired.
As with all vintage and antique pieces, which are previously worn and loved, this piece's current condition is commensurate with age and wear throughout its life up until this point. Please review all item details and photos carefully and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
As a general rule of thumb, it is best to wear and handle vintage and antique jewelry with care, i.e., do not shower or swim with them, wear them during physically laborious activities such as gardening, exercise, baking, chores, etc. We would also recommend you skip donning your favorite vintage and antique pieces if you'll be working with paint, bleach, chlorine, sulfur, or other potentially hazardous or abrasive chemicals or cleaners. This is not to say that every vintage and antique piece is too fragile to withstand occasional-to-normal wear, but it is to remind you that each piece has traveled its own unique journey by the time it reaches us, and while we disclose their current condition, we cannot guarantee how much "mileage" any given piece has left before it might require a "tune up", so to speak.
