Title: Antique Victorian 12k gold bloodstone intaglio monogram signet ring

c. 1880

Size: 5.25 on mandrel, fits more like a 5.5-5.75 due to convex shape behind/underneath stone

Description: Fantastic scrolling repousse detailing on the shoulders, top and bottom of this magnificent signet ring. Initials in that unmistakeable Victorian-era Gothic script read "RW" or perhaps "RM" (subject to interpretation!). A marvelous monogrammed bloodstone intaglio in a fantastically well preserved and well detailed yellow, but rosy-gold setting. A classic Victorian example, just beautiful.

Ring weight: 3.30g

Ring/band width (N/S): 10.65mm at widest point (center front); 2.60mm at narrowest point (shank at center back)

Ring depth (max height atop the finger): 4.45mm

Hallmarks: None, however given the 12k gold content (tested), our conclusion is that this ring hails from the UK. The 12k standard was used in the British Isles between 1854 and 1932.

Condition: Very good antique condition with very little wear commensurate with age. Very light nibbles to the bloodstone upon close inspection/magnification and very light wear to the repousse design, but overall very well and crisply preserved for age.
