Victorian Style Gothic Rosary // Decade Ring

The rosary ring, or decade ring, is one of the most iconic Roman Catholic devotional jewelry designs aside from the traditional rosary itself. The rosary ring is said to have emerged during the middle ages (c.1300), as whole rosaries were becoming cumbersome and, really, quite risky to carry due to widespread religious persecution of Catholics. Keeping a rosary ring close at hand allowed many Medieval-era Catholics to continue practicing their faith, albeit in secret.

Also known as the "one decade rosary", rosary rings are typically studded with 10 Ave Beads and 1 cross. Each tactile bead and/or cross is used to count the number and type of prayers recited within the "decade" -- one Hail Mary per each of the x10 Ave Beads, and finally an Our Father once the x1 cross or crucifix is reached.

Not being particularly religious myself, I still love this iconic design for the sentiment and nostalgia attached, as it reminds me of my Grandmother who was deeply devoted in her Catholic faith. With respect, I wear this ring for the hope, love, protection and comfort I feel it provides. On an aesthetic note, I've also fallen hard for its distinctly gothic vibes, which I always crave.

This very special ring is made to order for you in your choice of size and metal, and thanks to CAD technology, will retain all 10 Ave Beads per the original Victorian era antique gold band this is cast from, regardless of your chosen size (aka smaller sizes will not have fewer beads and larger sizes will not have additional beads to account for size decreases or increases vs. the original antique piece).

Your ring will reflect the age-related (over 100 years!) quirks and unique character of the original Victorian gold rosary ring it will be cast from, giving the ring a very special definition, texture and personality all its own.
